I just got back from taking a couple of pics for Instagram this morning. I loved them so much that I had to share them in a mini-blog post today. Yes, my total look is in all black and it is summer here in beautiful Orange County. Can you wear black in summer? My answer is a resounding yes. Should you wear black in summer? Again, my answer is yes — here is why.
There is a reason why black is practically everyone’s favorite color choice. The color black is neutral, which means it grounds everything. You can use black to anchor your looks and it goes with everything. If you read my last blog post, you know that I am being more intentional with my outfits for the summer. Casual is the way to go for summer time but this season and moving forward, I will do it with style. Incorporating black in your outfit does exactly that — it makes your outfit look uber–modern. Whether it is an all–black look for summer, like with my strappy midi dress, duster cardigan, black handbag, heeled sandals or just adding a black piece (like a pair of black vintage cateye sunglasses) to your colorful summer look — black is the answer to looking cool and sophisticated in the summer.
Black Summer Pieces
Should you wear black in the summer? Well, my answer is yes! But, it is dependent on the type of material. To be the most comfortable in the summer, choose black fabrics that are lightweight and breathable. I love this midi dress because of the knitted lightweight fabric, the thin shoulder straps and the slit in the dress. It has an easy–going chic appeal that I love and a fabric type you can move in. Though long, the duster cardigan is perfect for layering if you are looking for a piece to keep you warm at night or to keep you covered. And of course, cotton is always the winning choice for summer because it is breathable, allowing sweat to escape. You can find black cotton summer pieces in tops (bubble sleeve smocked blouse), skirts (convertible cotton skirt), bottoms (organic cotton gauze pants), and shorts (stretch twill shorts).
Drop a comment below if you are a fan of black during the summer. Try this neutral color this season for a simple and easy way to look stylish and modern all summer long! As always, thank you for visiting my blog, and see you in my next post.
